Porta Caeli House is a community-supported home providing compassionate end-of-life care to terminally ill individuals when dying at home is not an option.
Porta Caeli House is located at the Catholic Charities campus on North Harvard Avenue in Tulsa.
Hospitals, physicians, hospices, or family members refer their patients for palliative end-of-life care.
Porta Caeli House provides individual rooms, meals and personal care. We are not a licensed medical facility, nursing home or hospice program. Guests must be enrolled in a hospice program before being admitted to Porta Caeli House.
Guests are cared for in accord with the sanctity of life concepts as expressed in Catholic teaching.
Did you know?
- The number of hospice patients served in the United States each year is approaching 1.6 million.
- The number of people dying from terminal disease is increasing due to advances in healthcare and the aging population.
- Hospitals and other medical care facilities have determined that palliative care can be administered safely and more efficiently in lower-cost facilities.
- There is an unmet need in Tulsa for people who are terminally ill to have the care and compassion provided by a home for end-of-life care. The only such facility has ten beds and is able to serve just a small portion of the local need, resulting in a waiting list that can delay move-in for weeks.
